There comes a point when, listening to numerous voices whose perspectives I respect and whose success is undeniable, that one has to finally cave and accept that they have been going about things all wrong. I have arrived at that point, and it makes me a bit maudlin.
If I continue producing every post on this Substack as completely free to read, keeping nothing behind a paywall, nobody will take the plunge and opt to support these efforts financially. People on the whole don't seem to have much respect for things they don't pay for; I already sort of knew this, keeping my commercial novels off of programs like Kindle Unlimited.
So, there will be Subscriber-only posts coming to this space in the future. Not a lot of them; not even a notable percentage. But there will be stories and/or chapters of longer works that will be only for paying subscribers in the future.
I can't be naive and just hope for support; I'm going to have to start asking for what I'm actually worth.

Being new here, your post is confusing me. Do you normally write stories and post them for anyone to read? Are you now going to charge a fee? Are your books on Amazon or elsewhere? Just trying to understand. No offense intended.
